“If I could rate zero I would. This woman & her husband rented us a home for 4 plus years then gave us less than one month to move when they knew we had young kids in the schools and they didn’t even give us one more month until the kids were out for the summer. We did nothing wrong. We were great tenants and they knew it. That wasn’t the worst part. Upon moving, we cleaned the house meticulously. Not to mention we repaired many things in disrepair over the years we were there at our own cost… Only to come to find out that they kept our entire $3500 deposit!!! Saying we didn’t pay rent on time. Ridiculous!! If we hadn’t paid rent they had many years to discuss that with us but they never, ever did. They just outright stole our money. Such a disgrace when we took such good care of the property & always paid our rent as well as upgrading their property for them without asking for anything In return. Thought they were trustworthy at the time but they are just real estate scum at its finest. In response to Betti’s comment back: Funny she is only seeing this a year ago. Yes they don’t own the property any longer but they did when we lived there! My elderly Mother lived with us there & we were going to give her the deposit back to get her own place since my Brother & Father had just passed away. We kept that place immaculate & left it in far better condition than when we entered it. In fact after leaving I went back for 3 days to make sure it was pristine & had to bring my son along even tho he was sick with a fever during those 3 days. I will never forget that because I thought we had a good relationship & I really wanted to do my best to leave the place in great condition. We never had the chance to have a walkthrough which is normally what would happen upon exiting. I just naively assumed nothing would be an issue because I was trusting & I knew we left it pristine. When we got the letter about the ENTIRE deposit being taken we were shocked. Aside from during superstorm Sandy when we were late with rent we always paid within the terms. (Btw during that storm we had no heat or hot water or electricity for 10 days with 2 small kids & an elderly person in the house). Anyone think we should have had a break on rent for those days or an offer for a hotel?! Disgraceful. We got thru it & caught up at the end of the month when we were back to work. And if we were late more you would think it would have been mentioned at the time and charged a late fee AT THE TIME & not wait the almost 5 years we were there to shock us with claiming we were late only upon receiving the letter after we left & stealing the entire deposit. Had we gone to small claims court we would have won & I wish we had done that but we were too busy with moving on & trying to focus on positive things for our new home at the time. I just couldn’t let the truth go unsaid once I had the time. If you wanted to talk more when we disputed taking the deposit we would have but all you wrote was that we owed the entire deposit and then some for being late. I’m not even sure how that works out for a late fee. If we were late that many times to equal or exceed $3500 why not evict us after the 1st year or so? Makes no sense, is fraudulent & just plain nasty.”
